I have had the privilege for the last couple of days to connect with various church planters in the city of Austin, Texas.  It seems that God is up to a lot in this growing city which happens to be one of my favorite in Texas.

I've been staying with John  and Sherri Chandler along with their three kids during my time in Austin.  They just moved from the Seattle area about a month ago to start Austin Mustard Seed.  If you are in the Austin area and are wanting to find a fresh and organic way to live out your faith in community, you would probably enjoy checking out their website and joining one of their dream gatherings that are starting up this coming Sunday, September 7th.  You can learn about what this dream, some of the values as well as some of their core beliefs on their website.  I love the way John has expressed each of these things and I look forward to seeing how things will develop with this community of faith.

During my time here in Austin, I have had the chance to meet up a number of church planters in the city. John and I were able to meet up with well connected Kester and join him and others for the Austin Inklings.

I really enjoyed spending time with Jeff Mangum and Chris Marlow who lead a growing faith community called the Vista Community.  Chris blogs at Simply Missional. If you live in Williamson County, this is a church to check out.  These guys are down to earth and fun to hang with.

John and I had breakfast today with Brian Wallace this morning who serves at the First Evangelical Free Church, and then I had the chance to share with the Austin Church Planters Network a little bit about my journey in church planting with [nlcf] and Kairos Los Angeles. Church Planting Novice wrote up a short piece about my time with the network.

Jonathan Dodson helps to organize this group. It was great meeting him face to face, having been familiar with his blog - Creation Project.  He serves as the vision and teaching pastor at Austin City Life.  I love their website and was able to sneak a peek at their 2.0 one.  Their site was one of the sites that has inspired some of our redesign that we are in the process of doing at Kairos.

I was encouraged to get to meet and talk with a number of other church planters in this city.  I was encouraged by what God is doing.  May their influence increase.
