Hi - welcome to an informal, action-based discussion on five talks given by Mike Frost back in 2006 to a bunch of clergy on Living Missionally. I'm not sure how this will go, or how helpful it will be, but I do know that sometimes things become clearer, and more motivating if we can chew them over a bit, and relate them to our local context.

How about I throw a few questions out and see what happens. Feel free to make a comment, or to ask your own question/s ...

1. Mike makes some pretty frosty comments about the nature of our love for Jesus;  how it can often be likened to a teenage crush. What words/ pictures best capture how you understand/ feel the 'lay down ones life for another' kind of love Jesus has demonstrated?

2. Having a Jew die for you is a huge curse and a blessing that we carry around with us each day - says Mike. How important to 'mission' do you think it is that we feel this deeply? Why?

3. What are the two main things that will probably hold you back from loving in this way today?

4. What are some appropriate prayers that might move us in this direction?

The poem at the end is a cracker eh! It's by Adrian Plass (not sure which book) and there is a copy here
