The European Court of Justice has ruled that Sharon Coleman suffered discrimination by association, she is the mother of a disabled child and was forced to leave her job.
The full ruling will be later this year, but the argument is that it should be made illegal to discriminate against someone because they are the carer of someone with a disability.
"A robust conception of equality entails that these subtler forms of discrimination should also be caught by anti discrimination legislation."
